January 1, 2011 The National Senior Citizens Law Center reviewed state Medicaid policies regarding provisions, such as room hold payments, to ensure that Medicaid-eligible assisted living residents  would not be evicted from an assisted living facility following an absence, such a hospitalization. They found that state policies varied widely and most were had not incorporated federal Medicaid guidance that gives states authority to address room hold issues by authorizing Medicaid-funded retainer payments when a Medicaid beneficiary is hospitalized. Only a few states- Georgia, Illinois, Montana, and Washington make retainer payments for assisted living. Download the Report . . .
