HUD Housing Project-Based Rental Assistance: 2011 Summary Statement & Initiatives
January 4, 2011 On January 4, 2011, President Barak Obama signed the Frank Melville Supportive Housing Investment Act of 2010, which reforms how the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will operate the federal Section 811 supportive housing program for non-elderly people with disabilities. The Act implements a new Project-Based Rental Assistance approach for Section 811 housing that is limited to projects administered or supervised by state Medicaid agencies as part of the State Plan for medical assistance.
