Services In Support Of Community Living For Youths With Serious Behavioral Health Challenges: Respite Care

On January 5, 2018, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released this report on home- and community-based services (HCBS) and its service of respite care. Respite care offers support to a child while providing temporary relief to a child's parent or caregiver so they can have time to attend to other life activities. The report gives an overview of respite care, including information on its definition, oversight and purchasing, population served, eligibility and screening, and provider qualifications and training. The report concludes by recommending that states consider increasing the availability of high-quality respite care . . .
