FY 2010 Rhode Island DHS Medicaid Budget Savings Initiatives
January 2010 The Rhode Island Department of Human Services listed its Medicaid budget savings initiatives, the projected savings, and the implementation status of each. The initiatives, totaling approximately $35 million, affected hospital costs, nursing home care, community-based services, managed care, pharmacy, case review, and program integrity. In January 2009, the state was granted a five-year 1115(a) Medicaid waiver called the Rhode Island Global Consumer Choice Compact. It permits the state to consolidate all prior Medicaid waivers and caps the state's aggregate Medicaid spending through 2013 at $12 billion. Download the Report . . .
