MACPAC Recommendations For The Future Of CHIP & Children’s Insurance Coverage
On January 15, 2017, the Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) released a report to Congress, recommending a funding extension for the CHIP program through 2022 so that millions of children are not affected by potential loss of insurance coverage.
To protect access to insurance coverage for these low- and moderate-income children and their families, MACPAC advocates that federal funding for CHIP be extended for five additional years. This would ensure that affordable, consistent coverage be available to these children, and would ease budget uncertainty of states while in their budget . . .
