January 27, 2011 For fiscal year 2011, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Inpatient Psychiatric Facilities (IPF) Prospective Payment System (PPS) has abandoned the creation of a PPS per diem rate specifically for IPFs that would include separate rates for hospital-based and freestanding facilities. The proposed rule was released January 27, 2011. CMS is accepting comments through March 22. The rule affects 1,653 hospital-based and freestanding facilities; it will go into effect for discharges on and after July 1, 2011. Download the Report . . .
