Finding Quality Treatment For Substance Use Disorders

On February 6, 2018, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released these steps for finding quality treatment for addiction disorder. The steps include assessment of the following:

Whether the program has been licensed or certified by the state
Whether the program offers U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved medication for recovery
Whether the program offers evidence-based practices and treatments
Whether the program includes family members in the treatment process
Whether the program provides ongoing treatment and supports beyond just treating substance issues . . .
