White House Office of Budget & Management Letter To Health & Human Services Regarding Efforts To Reduce Medicare Improper Payments

In this February 2015 memo from the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, the OMB discussed HHS efforts to reduce improper Medicare and Medicaid payments. During fiscal year 2014, improper payments in the Medicare fee-for-service program increased by 2.65 percentage points over the previous year; the cost of the improper payments due to the increase was $9.7 billion.
