The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Rhode Island's 1115 Medicaid waiver amendment on March 21, 2024. The waiver approval will be in effect through December 31, 2024.

Under this waiver, Rhode Island will be able to reimburse for personal care services provided to people with disabilities during a hospitalization. The waiver also includes provisions expanding Medicaid eligibility for postpartum women, and will increase the income limit for a set of limited home- and community-based support services for people likely to need Medicaid funded nursing home level care . . .
