Arizona Medicaid: Institution For Mental Disease (IMD) Waiver Amendment Request

On April 12, 2017, the state of Arizona submitted this proposed 1115 Medicaid waiver amendment to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The state seeks approval for reimbursement for Medicaid stays in IMDs that are longer than 15 days. In this request, AHCCCS defined an IMDs as hospitals, nursing facilities, or other institutions of more than 16 beds that are primarily engaged in providing diagnosis, treatment, or care of persons with mental diseases, including medical attention, nursing care, and related services.
