Drug Enforcement Administration Notice Of Proposed Rulemaking: Controlled Substances Quotas

The proposed rule was issued on April 17, 2018 by the federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The rule affects how the DEA intends to set limits on annual opioid production. DEA will take into consideration the extent that a drug is diverted for abuse when it sets its annual opioid production limits for manufacturers. If the DEA believes that a particular opioid or a particular company’s opioids are being diverted for misuse, then DEA would be able to reduce the amount that can produced in a given year.
