Transition From Jail to Community Initiative, Elected Official’s Toolkit Module 4: Data-Driven Understanding of Local Reentry
April 19, 2011 The Transition From Jail to Community Initiative was developed by the Urban Institute in partnership with the National Institute of Corrections. The recommendations, directed at non-profit social service organizations and elected officials, focus on a using data-driven approach to reentry initiatives to identify offendersÂ’ issues and address those that are likely to result in recidivism. The goal is to reduce recidivism, enhance public safety, and reduce criminal justice and social services costs for offenders with addiction, mental illness, unemployment, and homelessness.
