April 23, 2010 On April 23, 2010, the Arizona immigration law was passed. The law was passed with the title, "Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act." The immigration law allowed police officers to detain anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant. However on July 28, in a judicial ruling parts of the law were blocked. The judicial ruling blocked the requirement that police determine the status of anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant, as well as the requirement that people carry immigration documents with them and two other provisions considered unconstitutional.
