May 9, 2011 The Florida legislature has approved a Medicaid overhaul that will shift the elderly and disabled to managed care in October 2013. The plan calls for the state to release a procurement for a Medicaid managed care organization (MCO) by July 2012. After shifting people with disabilities to a Medicaid MCO, the state plans to expand managed care to all Medicaid beneficiaries.  HB 7109 describes provisions of the planned overhaul.
