On May 29, 2017, the Texas Senate Research Center released this bill analysis of Texas Senate Bill 1148 (S.B. 1148) of 2017, relating to maintenance of certification by a physician or an applicant for a license to practice medicine. The bill analysis includes information on the state's maintenance of certification standards for physicians, as well as, concerns over the effectiveness and pertinence of those standards. Additionally, measures are proposed to amend these standards.
