State Department Information About Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) & Surrogacy Abroad

On May 30, 2019, the United States Department of State (DOS) released this information sheet on Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) and surrogacy abroad.

The information sheet provides answers to four questions:

Will my child acquire U.S. citizenship at birth?
What type of evidence may be required to establish my child's claim to U.S. citizenship?
Will I be able to attain a travel document for my child?
Will I be able to list myself and/or partner as a parent on my child's consular report of birth abroad of a U.S. citizen?
