Florida HB 353: Drug Screening of Potential & Existing Beneficiaries of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
May 31, 2011 Florida House Bill 353 was signed into law on May 31, 2011. It requires the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) to ensure that people receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash assistance are drug free. The provisions of HB 353 require all TANF cash assistance applicants to take a drug test at their own expense, with approval for benefits contingent on a negative test result. Parents testing positive will be permitted name a designee to handle benefits for eligible children.
