South Carolina Act 268 Of 2016-Jurisdiction Of Family Court
On June 6, 2016, the state of South Carolina released state act 268, relating to the jurisdiction of family court. The bill makes the following amendments to the South Carolina code of laws:
raises the age that a person is considered a child for purposes of delinquency matters before the family court;
amends the definition of "child" or "juvenile", so as to mean a person under the age of eighteen years, with exceptions;
amends sections relating to juvenile delinquency proceedings in the family court, so as to raise age limitations; and
requires certain state agencies to collect data and submit . . .
