Trends in Emergency Department Use Involving Nonmedical Use of Narcotic Pain Relievers
June 18, 2010 The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported that emergency department visits related to non-medical use of prescription pain relief medications doubled from 2004 to 2008. The researchers used data from the Drug and Alcohol Warning Network.
