What Works in Child Welfare Reform: Reducing Reliance on Congregate Care in Tennessee
July 7, 2011 Child welfare advocacy organization Children's Rights reported on improvements to the foster care system made by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services (DCS) since the Brian A. v. Haslam class action lawsuit was filed by Children's Rights against the state in 2000. Since the settlement in 2001, DCS has reduced the percentage of children placed in congregate care settings from 28% in 2000 to 9% in 2009. Download the Report . . .
