Massachusetts et al., v. DeVos
On July 16, 2017, Massachusetts and 18 other states sued Educational Secretary Betsy DeVos. The states alleged that the U.S. Department of Education had abandoned a federal rule requiring for-profit colleges, technical schools, and non-degree programs to demonstrate that they “prepare students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation” under the Higher Education Act.
