This legislation was signed into law on July 17, 2017. It is part of an 11-bill package to implement Wisconsin's Heroin, Opiate, Prevention, and Education (HOPE) agenda as recommended in December 2016 by the Governor's Task Force on Opioid Abuse. The provisions of Assembly Bill 3 protect people on probation or parole from further prosecution for a technical violation if they survive an overdose, provided they agree to enter an addiction treatment program . . .
