A Guide to Improve Educational Opportunities for Florida’s Foster Youth
July 30, 2009 The document describes 11 goals for improving Florida's child welfare system through better coordination among the Florida agencies that serve children in foster care. The goals focus on the need to help children in foster care succeed in school by ensuring readiness, attendance, and full participation. The goals further recognize the need to help children in foster care graduate from high school, enter post-secondary education and employment by engaging with consistent adult support and mentoring, and receiving trauma-sensitive education and behavioral supports.
