Budget Control Act of 2011
August 1, 2011 This bill raises the nation's debt limit and to reduces long-term spending by $2.4 trillion over the next ten years. On August 1, 2011 the U.S. House of Representatives voted of 269 to 161 and on August 2, 2011 the U.S. Senate voted 74 to 26 in support of the bill. It was signed into law by President Obama on August 2, 2011.
