August 1, 2011 The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care released a fact sheet for long-term care provider organizations about the Medicaid coverage exclusion of Institutions for Mental Diseases (IMDs). If more than 50% of residents of a long-term care facility have a primary or secondary mental health diagnosis, the facility will be classified as an IMD and Medicaid will not reimburse the provider organization for care provided to Medicaid beneficiaries.
