Medicaid Emergency Psychiatric Demonstration: Application Proposal Guidelines
August 9, 2011 The document describes the application guidelines for states seeking to participate in the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services new Medicaid Emergency Psychiatric Demonstration (MEPD) program. The MEPD will permit states to reimburse for emergency psychiatric care provided in a facility with more than 16 beds. States must submit proposals by October 14, 2011; the three-year demonstration will provide up to $75 million to the selected states to cover the costs of emergency psychiatric care in a specialized psychiatric facility.
