On August 14, 2017, the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment released this report on opioid and heroin related drug overdose in Colorado. The researchers found that from 2000 to 2015, the number of opioid-related overdose deaths increased from 87 in 2000 (a rate of 1.9 per 100,000) to 329 in 2015 (a rate of 5.8 per 100,000).
