Race to the Top–Early Learning Challenge: Executive Summary
August 23, 2011 On August 23, 2011, the federal Department of Education released the final Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) competitive grant application; selected states can share $500 million to improve early learning and development programs. States will be able to use the grant awards, projected to range from $50 million up to $100 million, depending on state population and proposed plans, to set up the systems, standards, and staffing necessary for high-quality programs.
