Race to the Top–Early Learning Challenge: Notice Inviting Applications for New Awards for Fiscal Year 2011
August 23, 2011 On August 23, 2011, the federal Department of Education released the final Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge (RTT-ELC) competitive grant application; selected states can share $500 million to improve early learning and development programs. States will be able to use the grant awards, projected to range from $50 million up to $100 million, depending on state population and proposed plans, to set up the systems, standards, and staffing necessary for high-quality programs. None of the funding can be used to expand existing early childhood programs. State applications are due on October 19, 2011 . . .
