The proposed legislation was introduced on August 22, 2018, as part of a five-bill package sponsored by Maine Governor Le Page. It was signed on September 7, 2018. This bill authorizes the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to access public and confidential criminal history record information to assist in preventing child abuse and neglect.
