September 15, 2009 Launched in 2004, the Good Schools: Making the Grade initiative seeks to improve student success by identifying indicators of student success and school success to help the greater Detroit community identify and replicate good schools. This document describes the awardees in the 2009-2010 grant cycle. Applications for Making the Grade are accepted from Detroit principals at public, private, charter, and religious schools serving elementary, middle, or secondary students. The grant program has four criteria: increase student criteria, improve school readiness, increase high school graduation and college enrollment rates, and innovation to develop good, small high schools . . .
