September 15, 2011 In response to a report by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) about disparity in utilization rates of crisis stabilization unit services that seemed to be related to how the state contracted for crisis services, the Florida Senate Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services Appropriations reviewed issues regarding emergency mental health stabilization services. The disparity was between utilization of state-funded beds and non-DCF-funded beds.
