September 30, 2009 The federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the grant announcement on September 30, 2009. Applications were due January 8, 2010. CMS seeks to establish and evaluate a national quality system for children's health care; and through the grants, CMS sought specific demonstration projects described in the Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2009 (CHIPRA) statute. The demonstration projects focus on new measures for quality of Medicaid/CHIP children's health care, the use of health information technology, and provider-based models which improve the delivery of services.
