AB 12: California Fostering Connections to Success Act
September 30, 2010 On September 30, a law was signed in California that will extend foster care benefits. California foster youth over age 18 will now be able to receive independent living support services such as transitional housing, student financial aid, counseling, and tutoring up to age 21. The extension will take place over three years; funding for the expansion will come from the federal Administration for Children and Families, as authorized by the federal Fostering Connections to Success and Increasing Adoptions Act of 2008.
