Senate Finance Committee Staff Report on Home Health and the Medicare Therapy Threshold

October 3, 2011 The U.S. Senate Committee on Finance investigation centered on LHC Group, Amedisys, Gentiva, and Almost Family. The investigation included reviews of the HH PPS structure, Medicare claims from the four companies from 2007 through 2009, subpoenaed documents from the four companies, and testimony presented at hearings. In its report released on October 3, 2011, the committee said it found that executives and managers with Amedisys, LHC Group, and Gentiva did encourage their therapists to target the most profitable number of therapy visits, even when patient need alone may not have justified such extra visits.
