Absenteeism & Employer Costs Associated With Chronic Diseases & Health Risk Factors In The US Workforce
On October 6, 2016, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released this study, which shows an association between absenteeism/employer costs and health risk factors in the U.S. workforce. The study found that, nationally, each observed health risk factor or disease was associated with annual absenteeism costs greater than $2 billion. CDC concluded that employers may incur these costs through lower productivity, and also that employees could incur costs through lower wages.
