Pennsylvania Department Of Education Investigation Of School District Of Philadelphia Failure To Timely Evaluate Kindergarteners Who Received Early Intervention Services

On October 6, 2017, the Pennsylvania Department of Education released this report on its investigation into a complaint filed by the Education Law Center (ELC) toward the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). In the complaint, ELC alleged that the school district failed to conduct timely evaluations of Kindergartners who received early intervention services, and also failed to ensure smooth transitions to school-age programs - among other complaints. The Department of Education found that SDP was not in compliance with three of the four main complaints made by ELC.
