California Sex Offender Supervision and GPS Monitoring Task Force Report
October 18, 2010 On October 18, 2010, the California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Sex Offender Supervision and Global Positions System (GPS) Monitoring Task Force submitted its report on sex offenders to CDCR leadership. The report included nine recommendations for CDCR. In its recommendations, the task force noted that blanket residence restrictions for registered sex offenders—such as the 2,000-foot restriction required by Jessica’s Law—had not improved public safety; they recommended active GPS monitoring and targeted residence restrictions for sex offenders.
