October 19, 2009 The U.S. District Court of Northern Indiana, South Bend Division, ruled that the defendants, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), must improve its performance on food stamp benefits determination. By October 2010, FSSA must decide 80% of new applications within the allotted month for regular cases and seven days for expired cases. By March 2011, FSSA must decide 90% of new applications within the allotted time. The lawsuit is a class action and includes all individuals who since April 1, 2008 have applied, are applying, or will apply for food stamps in Indiana. Download . . .
