October 19, 2010 The Pew Internet & American Life Project surveyed Americans' about their use of mobile health applications. About 17% said they used cell phone applications to find health information. The preference for mobile health information was highest among people ages 18 to 29, where 29% said they used their cell phones for this purpose. Beyond serving as an information source, nine percent of cell phone owners have mobile health applications that help them track or manage their health, provide nutrition information, track calorie intake, or calculate body mass index.
