Consent Order in Doe vs. State of Ohio
October 21, 2009 Federal District Court Judge John D. Holschuh, for the Southern District of Ohio, Eastern Division, ruled that the Ohio Department of Education (DOE) must abide by the terms of a consent decree in Doe vs. State of Ohio. The terms require DOE to ensure that students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education. DOE is required to provide greater oversight of local education agencies, especially those under fiscal or academic emergency or watch.
