October 21, 2010 On October 21, 2010, a coalition of mental health advocates sued the state of California for eliminating mental health support services, such as crisis counseling, case management, medication management and residential placement for special education students. An agreement was reached on October 29, and approved on November 1. The California Department of Education will provide short-term funding of $76 million in federal funding to cover the cost of services until the funding is exhausted or January 14, 2011.
