SSI Testimony: Preliminary Observations on Children with Mental Impairments
October 27, 2011 Researchers with the federal Government Accountability Office reviewed trends in the rate of children receiving Supplemental Security Income benefits because of mental impairments over the last ten years. The analysis included the role of medical and nonmedical information play in childrenÂ’s medical eligibility for SSI and how the Social Security Administration monitors the continued medical eligibility of these children.
