Medicare Program; Request for Information Regarding Accountable Care Organizations and the Medicare Shared Saving Program

November 17, 2010 On November 17, 2010, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a request for information, and noted that it was especially interested in advancing accountable care organizations' (ACOs) structures that are patient centered and encourage participation by the physicians and other health care professionals in solo or small practices. CMS accepted comments on policies, payment models, the process to attribute Medicare beneficiaries to ACOs, quality measures, and many other aspects of the Medicare Shared Saving Program.
