Centers For Medicare & Medicaid Services Notice: Risk Corridors Payments For The 2014 Benefit Year
On November 19, 2015, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released this notice to health insurance companies offering Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) sold on the state and federal health insurance marketplaces. CMS informed the health insurers that a change in federal law enacted in December 2014 had changed the function of the temporary risk corridor program. CMS is now required to completely fund the risk corridor payments to QHPs that had higher than expected losses from the payments made to the risk corridor program by QHPs that had higher than expected profits . . .
