Among long-term care facilities, cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in 23 “hotspot states” with wider community transmission rose by 18% over a 14-day period (from 125,500 to 130,300 cases), compared to a 4% increase in non-hotspot states. “Hotspot states” are defined as those that have increasing cases, and increasing positivity rates over the most recent 14-day period or a positivity rate of 10% or greater.
