The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has moved to increase its monitoring of Medicare and Medicaid Meaningful Use incentive payments after a report from the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) indicated that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) had not been verifying the accuracy of professionals’ or hospitals’ self-reported Meaningful Use information.
