Michigan is preparing to implement a new fee schedule for no-fault auto insurance personal injury protection (PIP) medical coverage starting after July 1, 2021. The fee schedule will reduce reimbursements for some services provided to people injured in motor vehicle accidents. The new fee schedule will cut rates by 45% for services without Medicare codes, according to the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services. For services with Medicare codes, the price controls will permit health care provider organizations to charge up to 200% of Medicare rates.
