Ohio’s School-Based Behavioral Health Partnerships Up 223% Since 2017

Between 2023 and 2024, the number of Ohio school buildings that partner with community behavioral health centers (CBHCs) increased by 21.8% to reach 3,610 school buildings across 646 school districts and charter schools in 2024. Since 2017 the number of school buildings partnered with a CBHC has increased by 223%.

Of the school buildings partnered with a CBHC for school-based behavioral health services, 1,459 are elementary schools, 926 are middle schools, and 883 are high schools. The remaining 342 buildings are used for other purposes, such as trade schools, day cares, and alternative schools.
