Health Care Costs Dominate Retirement Anxiety As 81% Of Older Adults Cite Concerns About Financial Strain In New Survey
The top three financial concerns cited by retirement-age adults are health care costs (81%), running out of funds to maintain lifestyle or “make ends meet” (67%), and covering housing-related costs (52%), according to a recent survey of older adults nearing or in retirement.
For the survey, the cost of health care included premiums, prescriptions, and long-term care. Housing includes rent, mortgage, taxes, and maintenance. The participants were asked about their top worries for 2026; their regrets and resolutions; and their attitudes about their financial situation.
